This has been one of the most popular brands of cigarettes in America for over 90 years. It is easily available all over the world. Camel has always advertised itself as the All-American cigarette, smoked by the rich and poor alike. They were quick to see that television would a brilliant place to advertise, and did so since the early 1950’s. The slogans were always catchy. “I’d walk a mile for a Camel” was one of the most popular. Another was having the famous American reporter Edward R Murrow do a television commercial where he said, “More doctors smoke Camel than any other brand of cigarette.” When advertising on television became illegal, they thought up the controversial Joe Camel, a cartoon camel dressed in a leather jacket who smoked.
